Spyder is an American ski and snowsports apparel brand founded in 1978 in Boulder, Colorado, by former Canadian racer David Jacobs, who started the business as a mail-order maker of race sweaters and pants from his kitchen. Named after the 'spider pants' racers called his padded racing trousers — Jacobs swapped the 'i' for a 'y' in homage to the Porsche Spyder — the label became a technical-skiwear authority and the official apparel supplier to the U.S. Ski Team from 1989 to 2022. Now owned by Authentic Brands Group, Spyder spans insulated and shell ski jackets, race suits, pants and accessories built on a racing-first heritage.
