The Brooklyn Museum will present Iris van Herpen: Sculpting the Senses beginning May 16, 2026, marking the Dutch avant-garde fashion designer’s first major exhibition in North America.

Featuring more than 140 haute couture creations alongside contemporary art, design works, and scientific artifacts, the exhibition explores how Van Herpen merges art, science, advanced technology, and sustainability in her practice. Drawing inspiration from nature and scientific disciplines—including marine life, anatomy, physics, sound, and light—the exhibition examines the relationship between the body, fashion, the environment, and the future.

Originally debuting in 2023 at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, the exhibition has since traveled internationally. Its Brooklyn presentation coincides with the Museum’s annual Brooklyn Artists Ball, where Van Herpen will be honored, and is supported by the Simons Foundation.
